Playstation 3 Pre Orders

If ever there was a console id be more wary of then its the PS3. Pre ordering this is pure madness, almost everything points to its failure. I really hope that doesnt happen, but im damn sure im gonna wait till its been out a few months before buying one. Roll on fanboy comments (even tho i am in fact a bit of a SONY fanboy!)

£410 for a console is crazy.

I could probably buy an XBox 360 AND Nintendo Wii for a few more notes (£280 £199 perhaps?)

The 360 will have dropped in price by the time the PS3 is released. There's even a rumour that they want to drop it the day the PS3 is released, along with Halo 3, but I don't know how reliable that is :p

If the ps3 launches when sony claims it's going to, there's no way halo 3 will be ready. A price drop seems quite likely though. Wouldn't surprise me if they up the HD in the premium to 60GB and offer 60Gb drives cheap too ;)

Gamestation are taking preorders now for the 60gb pack.

£425

Microsoft and the 360 just won the race to be number one next gen console imho

thats not crazy people were paying £600 for a N64 in 1996/97

what is crazy when people buy a graphics card for there pc from £300 to £400 then 6 months later its out dated thats crazy.

With these game consoles they last a few years so spending £400 is not bad.

Different market entirely. I call it the Little Timmy Christmas Market- what really makes or breaks a console. Yes enthusiasts help the sales at first, but its down to the general consumer to make the bulk of sales.

So Christmas comes. Timmy wants to play new games. Timmy's mum sees the options. Xbox 360? Looks good at £200-£250 (price drop). Wii? Heh heh Wee! Oh thats £199 (based on all previous Ninty releases). PS3? £410! Nothanksverymuch.
