PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

My PRO just turned up and it's currently transferring the data from my slim. Can't quite get over the size difference yet as it's huge and heavy in comparison. Looking forward to gaming on it in the. Ext hour or so and do some comparisons!

Both Sony and Microsoft have used the HDR10 spec for consoles. Buying a TV that is UHD Premium certified is the best way to guarantee your TV is capable of displaying HDR content in HDR10.

Dynamic meta data will be included as a firmware update on Samsung UHD Premium TV's and is already part of the UHD Premium specification.

The problem as with most things is there is always something new around the corner.

Go on.

I was thinking of plumping for a Sony as it's well received and has good input lag for games...but intrigued by what you say.

Sorry, I did write a spiel about it but the iPad had a turn and lost my post but in a nutshell there are things like the blinking screen suggesting problems with HDCP and/or the HDMI cables, the HDR modes on some TVs being 8-bit or 10-bit, all this business about YUV/RGB only capable of 30Hz or something, having to change settings on the TV according to whether you watch SDR or HDR, the lag in HDR modes, not all TVs have local screen dimming, etc.

I suppose every TV has its issues with some content but it all seems too much of a minefield for my liking at the moment.

I'll agree with you on the minefield part, it was one reason why I myself thought of giving up, but then I read GAF and saw how highly praised the Sony KD43XD8088BU as it seemed a good set with all the right boxes ticked.

Now is not the right time to be buying 4K TVs anyway. The HDR/HDCP/HDMI stuff needs sorting properly first.

Nothing is ever static or sorted. Even in the HDMI 1 spec we had low-speed; high speed; HDMI 1.3; 3D; ARC; so on and so forth.

You buy what you want, when you want to buy it, when you can afford it.

Ok so I got an 49inch 4K LG TV for the ps4 pro but this ato dimming is driving me crazy. Ive updated the tv and its still happening. Does anyone with an LG set know if this can be turned off? Driving me mad to the point where I want to return it for something else.

Its the 49UH661v

What does this mean to a layman?

The TV I was going to get was HDR 10 Bit, I thought this was the thing to have for console gaming and HDR?
Same - I'm looking at the 65" KS8000 - was KS7000 but additional budget has been granted by the Mrs.

Worried now. Reviews state gaming is fine on it.

All related to the 55" but it's the same access the range (apparently).

EDIT - would appreciate thoughts before I spend the best part of 2K! :)

Well just bought a Pro this afternoon and just setting it up. Since having consoles since the sega master system this is my first PlayStation lol. Always been Nintendo, Sega or Xbox.

Got BF1 to start with. Want to pick up Ratchet and Clank next.

Is The Last Of Us as good as they say?
