PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

I'd be holding off on buying a 4K to what with all these new HDR consoles and the like, I understand that they aren't the best at the moment with input lag and stuff.

More detailed specs to be confirmed by Sony at a later date apparently to clear up any confusion.

There is still hope yet for a UHD drive people!!!

The patch route is also an odd choice cause there is few people again with poor Web, I can't imagine 4k patches being small I'd of thought just releasing 4k game version and non 4k one would be easier but with them putting no uhd drive in that potential idea is out

You don't need a UHD drive to support 4K gaming.

With already owning a ps4 this seems a little meh.

Those comparing it to pc gaming should just return to the pc forum if they think it's inferior. It's not the same experience so not sure why people still compare.

One thing that I truly don't miss from pc gaming is the hacks, you could never known until it was too late that you had a fair playing ground. Even at 300fps and beautiful graphics it just ruined the experience.

Lack of a 4k player doesn't really bother me as I prefer downloads. Swapping disks with kids in the house is never a great idea.

More importantly how many of the 40 million will upgrade to a PS4 Pro and want to buy a 4K TV to go with it.

The lack of a single box console/streamer/blu-ray player from Sony seems an odd choice. I'd be in the market for the new PS4 and a new TV but I don't a seperate player for cost and space reasons so I'll hold off.

Who here actually buys 4k blu rays ? Genuine question. I can't imagine it being that many.

I really dont see this as a massive deal.

But then again the XB1S doesnt do Hi Def Audio, supposed to be in a patch (maybe, sometime) so guess its a stand alone player for you?
wtf??? they bother putting in a uhd drive but dont include hi def audio.....that makes it completely pointless

It does support hi def audio. It's bitstreaming that it doesnt support. That means DTS:MA/Dolby TrueHD can be sent as LPCM (not the end of the world by any means) but object based formats are a no go unless MS decide to bitstream them.

Ok I have read this, and read what I wrote about a PC and think I might have got your back up, which wasn't what I intended to do.

I should explain further. I don't really use my PC for online gaming, it is and has always been in the past a means for me to play stunning looking games at settings I have chosen and not what a single bit of hardware decides.

I have always struggled to deal with fps dropping heavily or heavy screen tearing, its just a personal issue. I can tailor a PC game to fit with a frame rate I deem acceptable to me, and with new tech like G SYNC I am really enjoying that lag free experience on PC right now.

Now, you are fully correct, a console in the living room playing online is a different experience.

Now, to the PS4 pro. I have a PS4 already, and I don't think the PS4 pro at this time offers me anything more that my PC /PS4 combo offers. Hope I have cleared that up.

I don't think I will be upgrading my PS4 for this even though I have a 4K TV. I would sooner buy the XBone S TBH but with most of the better games coming to PC anyway I don't think there is much point.

Personally I don't like the whole upgraded hardware same generation console thing, it seems like they are jumping on the Apple way of putting and S, a Plus or a pro at the end of a slightly tweaked product to try and make you purchase again. No thanks.

Pre-ordered to replace my primary PS4 which is getting on a bit (day 1 launch model).

Will most likely replace my second PS4 with another Pro once I have used it for a bit.

Don't care about the comparisons to either gaming PC's or Scorpio as I already have the former (for VR) and will no doubt replace my current Launch Xbone with a Scorpio anyway (price dependant of course).

I know that but there going to patch games or older to do 4k resolution and features my point is if your Web is crap (mine isnt) instead of patching it , buying a 4k version of said game on disc would be easier

But you'd have to rebuy all the games you own - I can't imagine that'd be popular.

Did you not see the official spec list I posted?

There is no UHD.

Doesn't matter, Sony is well aware of the specs is out there but they can still change things at the last minute. Hence why word is going round Sony want to clear things up. They could even delay it for a month or so if they need to address the UHD issue. Not as if they have Scorpio to deal with on this side of the year.

lol, no they really can't and won't now. There is no UHD drive.

I will be buying one to replace my original one that's a bit loud now. Disappointed that it doesn't include a 4K BR player but I guess its down to cost.

I'll take some of whatever drugs you are on.

Gotta love the deluded fan boys still clinging on, hoping and praying.

(For the record I'm neither one or the other and own both )

Couldn't give a stuff about UHD BluRay, I stopped buying physical media films at DVD.

Since I'm not planning on buying 4k tv, and won't be for a long time (my next TV is going to be 1080p OLED)....I really need to see more of what the Pro will offer to 1080p gamers.

If you focus only on the gaming, then by all accounts, just a bit of extra ooompph for some higher frame rates or nicer looking graphics depending upon what the devs choose to do with that extra grunt.
