Playstation phone

I guess Sony have seen how successful the iPhone is and want s piece of the market. I don't like the idea of being forced to pay for the feature of a phone if all I want is a PSP2.

There's no evidence that they won't release a PSP2 without the phone. Apple did it with the iPod Touch...

Can be great if done correctly, Firstly its supposed to be a phone so shouldnt skimp on the features. Battery life is a major issue aswell.

looks like a fanboy with too much time on his hands, iphone dont suck, people just wish they could run android on it lol :p

If it looks anything like that picture then just lol!

That controller bit makes it looks so cheap and nasty, like one of those cheap japanese mini games you can buy. And wtf? Just a D-Pad, great, way to go back to limiting to old school retro kind of games

I see to little holes. I wonder if that's where the analog sticks will go or is that whole area to small touch pads that will work like analog sticks.

yep they are supposed to be touch pads to be used as analogue sticks

this is definitely happening as SE where mentioning it at conferences a few months back , i dont believe this is what it will look like though. looks poor for sony/se .

there was also talk of the 'gaming' moving to future SE phones. similar to how ngage games where available on a few different nokias i guess

The problem I have with this is the overall design looks way too tacky for what will most likely be a top-tier product (in terms of pricing anyway). Also why use touchpads (albeit multi-touch) instead of little sticks like the PSP which I'm sure would work fine with a sliding mechanism on a phone as the protrusion is pretty slight.

What strategy are Sony going to use? For anyone who owns an Xperia Android device I'm sure Sony have soured your taste with regards to support, I mean come on their flagship mobile device the X10 is still running a build of Android that has been classed as old for like a year now.

What strategy are Sony going to use? From reading around the net it sounds like they are trying to create a 'gaming microcism' (buzz words, check ;)). Will this only be available to the PSP phone and future Sony products? It would be pretty short sighted if they relied solely on developing games with only this product in mind.

In short then, I think this will fail if it's limited to either only PSP phones or even just the Sony range. The other option is to open this up to ALL Android phones (hardware specifications limiting of course) and in which case what of the dedicated controls the PSP phone has?
