PlayStation VR / VR2

Just joined the PSVR community. Overall it's pretty cool but massively let down by the low res.
Gran Turismo (not tried with steering wheel + pedals which are at the bottom of a stack of boxes since moving!)
Team Bravo (not tried this one yet)
Rogue One X-Wing
PSVR Worlds
Far Point and Aim Controller

Out of those Far Point had the biggest wow factor. Seemed odd strolling about without moving my legs but it was satisfying shooting aliens. Looking over your shoulder or staring down the rifle sights add to the immersive feeling. Oh, and waving the rifle around while looking at my character's shadow. Cool. Just a shame about the grainy appearance.

VR is definitely beyond a gimmick. It has a great future and when GPUs are able to produce higher res at affordable prices there'll be no going back.

Agreed. I find the closer, darker games work best. As soon as things are bright with a long draw distances, it looks super ropy. If you have move controllers, Until Dawn Rush of Blood is a must. As is Resident Evil 7 and Headmaster. Rez is special too.

Finally got Paranormal Activity. It’s one of the best I’ve played making you feel like your really there. It’s scared the crap out of me within the first few minutes of playing lol.

Persistence and Detached are finally out on psvr.

Purchased Persistence and it’s brilliant. Great graphics, sound and atmosphere. Reviewers have given great scores.

Still unsure about Detached as I haven’t seen any reviews yet and it’s £30. Going to hold off until I know it’s worth the price.

Anyone else got any of these games??

Yeah, warm weather and VR really don't seem to mix! I was tempted to grab a copy of persistence seeing as it's only £20 but I still have about 3-4 games sitting on the shelf I've bought and haven't played so I really need to work through them first!

yeh know the feeling, ive got skyrim resident evil and arizona sunshine ive not even started yet

psvr has got a long way to go until I’m going to think about getting involved. Atm I know it would be an initial “wow” but then once the novelty wore off it would collect dust. The Gfx and games need to be as good as regular console for me to consider it. I think wearing a headset in itself might mean it never goes mainstream.

I've probably spent more time playing my playstation in VR than non-VR this last yaer since getting the headset so mine certainly hasn't collected dust and there's no indication it will for a long time to come! There are a lot of game genres (Racing, First Person Shooters, etc) where I actually find it hard to go back and play on a flat screen after experiencing VR! Using a mouse and keyboard or controller in front of a monitor doesn't compare the feeling of sitting in a car cockpit or aiming down the sight of gun in VR!

To me it's up there with the truly amazing revolutions in gaming like witnessing the first wave of 3D games on the original Playstation or playing games over the internet (using Xbox Live) for the first time.

Yes I don’t doubt it. But for me the Gfx and games need to be as good as non VR games then I’ll consider it. When it’s a case of playing the regular game in VR exactly the same then I think they’ve arrived.

Surely that will never happen? Surely it takes more power to create and display the VR world? When we have the more power needed, that power would also be used to make 'regular' games look even better?

Not sure but for me that’s the problem. I like to be blown away by the visuals in the world’s im exploring. I think many people when they think of VR think it would just be the same games but with a headset on.

It doesnt? Massive headset, hand held peripherals? Im not talking about the underlying technology, which is obviously improved. VR back then was as new as VR is now to younger people, we werent prepared to have massive headsets on back then to enjoy it for long periods and we still arent.

I love the concept but I think technology needs another leap or two.

I see what your saying but for me personally it’s not the size of the psvr that’s an issue it’s the resolution, the cable and the fov. The resolution will obviously get better with newer versions but what we have now is pretty good. The fov really does need to be wider for the experience to be more immersive and if they ever do remove the cable somehow I’m all for it.

As far as headset size goes I think we will see something like what’s in Ready player one but I don’t see them being like glasses as such.

The move controls for psvr are the biggest problem right now. They do the job but badly.

Regardless of the small issues I have I really love it. I play more vr games than anything now.
