Mate has AOL, Netgear wireless ADSL router (Not sure which model but it cost £99), 4 laptops (Kids ones!). they were all working fine with the internet until a couple of days ago. Now, when they try to get onto the net they get a message saying something like 'No DNS Server'.

He has phoned AOL but after 2 hours on the phone he is still unable to connect.

Any ideas please? What can he do to rectify the problem. Thanks.

Open up a command prompt and type "ipconfig /all" (no qoutes) and see if you have a DNS server listed. If you do not then I would say it's a problem at AOL (surprise surprise) and they need to fix it their end

Also go into the admin pages for the router and check the status of the connection there there.

Usually on 192.168.1.1 admin/admin or admin password to log in.

I assume he's tried simple stuff like resetting the router and checking all his connections are in firmly.
