Please advise on an am4 mini-itx board

Hi,

I am looking for a mini-itx board and power supply for ryzen 3400g.

Fits minibox m350 case
Nvme sdd
ddr4 3200mhz laptop memory compatible

My old board was a320.

Thanks very much for having a look - a good find but very expensive. I think what I have is old tech and a rare combo unfortunately.

Looks like I should start saving and look for something a bit more commercial here - I'll start a spec me thread. Thanks so much again

Still could be the power supply but dificult to be certain.

Could reuse the 3200g and a b450 motherboard as mentioned above.
 
You could just grab something like an Asrock b550m-itx/ac which should work, it's mitx and it supports the cpu you mention and then just grab some normal ram. Around £150 for the board and you can get 16gb ddr for around £50... so £200 all in, far cheaper than the asrock x570d4I-2t.

You could probably go cheaper for say an a520 board but I'm not sure about compatibility

Some good advice and suggestions. I'm going to save these in wishlist and see if any black Friday sales.

It's the first time I've had no pc in 20+ years, although to be fair my PC gaming nowadays is Roblox (with kid), and Skyrim (old game).

I'd be crucified spending money in the world's current situation

Why... if you have the money to buy a new pc and it doesn't affect your long term financials (ie not going into debt) then I don't see what the issue is (other than paying higher prices than we'd all like).

Yes times are tough and we all need to make logical decisions about how we use our money but that doesn't mean we should feel 'guilty' if we do spend some money on something 'pleasure' orientated (lets be honest, at the rate things are going we're all likely going to be home more because restaurants etc will be closing due to electric/gas costs).

I have found the problem and it is the board. When powered on black smoke starts to come from 1 of the 4 very tiny chips numbered 025 027 029 030. They sit next to am4 socket corner.

I tried to upload image (just as I'm curious) but can't figure out how to upload from phone.

Images You need to use a image hosting site first like image shack then you can link them.

Think you still get your motherboard with shipping near 100 us dollars but 8s it worth the risk.

Yes a valid point. Im just at the point in life where 70%-80% of wage is bills/kids, all the basics are covered but there's things we'd like to get that's more important. Weve good jobs but nursery bills get us.

Yeah I'll have a think, I know where you mean, that's where I got the parts before. Used it 100s times and never had issues.

I'll look at all the options I think.

IF the system is completely dead, and based on the above info you've just added it's entirely possible that those little chips have damaged the cpu too (you'd only really know with a new motherboard), it might be the time to consider upgrading to something that can last a bit longer.... think of it as an investment because your child(ren) will likely need access to a pc from primary school these days.

Only you know your financial situation but, and I've been in this situation, it's sometimes better to 'replace' than 'repair' when it comes to faulty hardware.
