Hi

I have just received my refurbished WD Caviar SE back as it went Pete Tong.

Its the 160GB 7200rpm 8mb IDE version.

I installed it, booted up and benched it against my Maxtor 80GB 8mb Sata and the WD seemed to fail miserably against it.

First benchies were with the Caviar.

Is this correct?

I was under the impression that the Caviar SE were a pretty damn good HDD even against the Sata drives.

Your views would be appreciated

Those look about right, that particular drive (WD 1600JB) is pretty old, I think it may even be only 80Gb/platter so it's not capable of miracle speeds.
