Hello, long time lurker first time poster, need some advice on this build I'm thinking is my new rig for gaming with the plan to add 2nd graphics card down the line when things start slowing down.

I've patched this together by looking at all the different builds you guys created for other people in my price range which is up to £1500 but requires a monitor as well in that budget, just want to be sure everything is compatible and I haven't made any rookie errors. :)

If anyone has any suggestions for a suitable monitor - I'm currently using a 19" Samsung monitor at 1680x1050 but looking at upgrading to a 24", would that be ideal for my graphics card?

Thanks for your responses, I know its not possible to be completely future proofed but would an i7 be better if I'm planning on keeping this rig for as long as possible without massive upgrades? I've read nothing but good things on the forums about the 4790k.

The case looks really good but it would be slightly too large for my desk, the desk is 50cm deep you see :P I could put it on the floor if the Phanteks case is a clear winner vs the corsair.

Like the idea of having an external cd-drive though, hadn't considered that!

Buy a new desk ? :D I think it would be a shame to put the Phanteks on the floor though. A case with a window needs centre stage on a desk. There is a non windowed version if you did decide to put the case on the floor though.

The Corsair 450D is a very nice case as well though so don't let me put you off it. I was just showing a 'similar' looking case for the same sort of money.

The i5 is fine for gaming at the moment, although it is impossible to say what future games will require. I think there are only a handful of games that use hyperthreading, which the i5 doesn't have. You can stick the i7 in if it fits in your budget though.

You would need to change the H105 though, as i don't think it fits in the 450D. The Antec Kuhler 1220 would be a good alternative. If you are using Windows 7 then you can also consider the H100i.
