Yeah, It's time for an upgrade from my 'dead' socket 939 system! Here's what I have come up with. Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated. The PC will be used for hardcore gaming and encoding and such.

Were did you here that??? The difference would be negligible if true.

If you want to go SLI or Crossfire in future then a 1156 board will hold you back due to reduced PCI-e bandwidth. So not good for the "hardcore gaming" you want to use it for.

60 quid more than your spec but including the Corsair cooler, so effectively the same price
 
For the record, i chose that RAM as it runs at native voltage of 1.5v I'm still not sure about overclocking RAM on the i7 - a lot of what i've read has made me think its better to be running RAM @ 1.5v rather than 1.65v. If you want to OC your RAM there are plenty of options for the same price
