I'm hoping to order this afternoon and just wanted to make sure I had made the right choices! :)

Currently have Geil 4x 1Gb PC6400C4 800Mhz RAM to put in so don't need to order that. Also have optical and hard drives ready.

Thanks

What you using it for - cant really judge without knowing ? If your gaming then a nice CPU :)

I am going to buy a full new comp soon, and am also going for the E8400 + TRUE. It will be a gaming rig, so no point getting the Q6600, i will upgrade to a Quad in a year or so when the new technology is out and cheaper... and the games use it!:)

Will let you know other bits incase you want to see variance.

Going with a CM Stacker 832 too, for the extra room, a nice place for my 3870X2.... And Asus Maximus Extreme X38 + 4GB of G.skill PC8500.

Let us know your intentions for the machine.. but it looks nice!:)

It will be my main machine, which does a bit of everything really! :)

I do some video encoding, Photoshop, quite a bit of gaming. I did look at the Quad but came to the same conclusion as you did!

I also intend to try my hand at some overclocking which I've not done in the past.

Thanks

just a note that the wolfdale/mobo MAY need a bios update, depending on how things are going at the moment, don't think the abit has been comfirmed as straight out the box compatible.

very nice setup tho have fun :D

Thanks for that mp260767. I did read up on it and I believe if I have the bios upgrade on a CD and then the first boot it will work to do the upgrade otherwise a second boot will stop it from working (permanently?). Is that correct.

Nothing like a bit of tension to make the system building experience complete! :D

yeah thats my understanding of a few of the boards/wolfdales 1st boot it handles in which case the bios MUST be updated, otherwise you're in trouble, not sure its permenant so much as needing a 65nm c2d to start up and update the bios.

There is only one saving grace if it is the case that you get one shot only at updating the BIOS.
The ABIT has a removable BIOS chip unlike the ASUS!

Places like BiosflashUK will ship one to you in 24 hours.

I don't think I could handle the tension if it was an ASUS.
