I'm not normally one for 'spec me' threads but Im in need!

I'm looking for a new game or two, to help pass the time when I'm not doing Uni work, especially with reading week just around the corner.

Im looking for some good new/newish games that I can sink some time into, dont know if Im in the mood for FPSs but suggest away.

Thanks

Spilinter Cell Series.....ideal combination of shooting and sneaking about.

Prince of Persia Sands Of Time is old but I keep going back to it.

:D

FPS:

Prey, Bioshock (horror theme)
Half Life series!
COD2, COD4 (war)

Adventure:

Sam and Max series

Exactly what I would have suggested.

Just playing through Prince of Persia The Two Thrones and it's cracking (especially with the Xbox 360 pad).

Highly recommend both suggestions - Splinter Cell is the closest thing to James Bond I think (shame about the women though or lack of in the earlier games).

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've never really been that taken by the look of Splinter Cell, what is the game play actually like?

Been playing HL2 to pieces recently, so unfortunately that's out.
I'm interested in CoD4 but worried that it'll be over all too soon, Uni has ports blocked so I cant play online :(

I'm partial to RTSs and some RPGs, recently finished WiC and finally play fully through Nexus:tJI (great game)

Is X3 offline?

My experience wasn't that great. I completed Pandora Tomorrow and later got the original as I was told it was better. Just seemed like more of the same really with fewer special moves so I only played the first 3 levels or so.

I can see why some people like it but to me it is just a glorified puzzle game; combat is laclustre and basically it just involves approaching setpiece after setpiece, where you have to figure out the way to avoid/silence the guard/alarm, before moving on to the next one. I can't help but think that it could have been made into a much less linear and more interesting game.

Good voice acting and storyline but the bland and repetitive gameplay didn't win me over. Bear in mind that I haven't played Chaos Theory / Double Agent however, maybe they are a bit slicker.

Double Agent was really good - the only one where you get to seduce some wench and the action pieces, although you could re-load and it would be the same set routes there's so much more taken into account (such as shadows, etc.).

I think it is a really good series - the story and actiing is superb and you feel like you've really accomplished something (i.e. there are a load of side missions such as recording voices, finger print acquisition, sneaking into dodgy areas, etc.)

Good fun and it can be bought for next to nothing now!

I really wanted Sup Com but when it arrived my disk drive refused to read it :(
maybe I should try again.

I'll look into Stalker too, see if that takes me

Stalker I really hated - very enclosed playing area (i.e. if you wander out of the zone or on to a different path then the game radiation poisons you). Can't think of a single good point for the game at the moment but sure there are people out there who can point these out or there may be patches since I last played it.

My opinion was that it is a below-average run of the mill FPS when, the idea, could have been so much better.

Bit radical - but WoW.

Get on an RP server as wow kiddies (hopefully) tend to avoid them. These days levelling is fast. You are not forced to group to make progress. You can play the whole thing as a giant single user game if you want, by avoiding instances and guilds. Blizz have made progres faster and easier to get players up to the level 60-70 expansion pack.

Halls blocks most ports so I don't think online MMORPGs are the way for me, I cant seem to play any games online :(

What does X3 involve doing?

Chaos Theory is the one to get. So much better than Double Agent which I didnt even bother finishing. Its full of bugs as well.

Call of duty 4 is fantastic if you fancy an FPS... It has a very good storyline, the graphics are superb and the overall gameplay is just mind blowing.

I really liked COD4... I think it's one of the best games I've played yet.

So what is X3 like?

Have you ever played X2? If so, probably relatively easy to get into.

If not, lets just say that the first 10 hours or so will be trying to work out how to play the thing. Although once you know, its a very good game, great graphics even though its 3 years old, millions on mods people have produced to improve little things here and there, quite an advanced economy model and generally a lot of fun. If your patient.
