please god help me usb external drive

windows vista SP2

just bought a usb external hard drive.

"seagate expansion portable drive"

plugged it in. installed itself blah blah but not showing in "mycomputer"

went to disk management and its not showing there either.
works on windows 7 laptop and my brothers vista machine also.

im stumped

edit: found it in disk management. wot now? lol

edit 2. although it says online next to it i try to format and it says its offline and ive read i need to assign it a letter but i dont know how ?

If you can see it in Disk Management, then right-click on it and choose "Change drive letter and paths" or similar. Then add a drive letter.

thanks i did manage to do this in the end.
the hard drive was listed (in disk management) twice, once at the bottom and once at the top.
i needed to right click the top listing but it wasnt named as a seagate and this is what confused me.
oddly it worked on all the othe comps and lappy's in the house without fuss.
typical !! lol

all working for now.
