I have Viewsonic vp171s,

once the system gets into windows, the screen turns black, the power button still on (which is connected to graphics card) (green colour).

I turn off the power button and give it 30 seconds. switch it Back On the desktop appears, after like 3 seconds, the screen truns black again.

I use DVI-D connection,

I tested the pc (graphics card with another monitor (samsung) everything is fine,

it seems Viewsonic has a problem.

help please.

Could be anything.

How long have you had the monitor? Has it been working fine up to now? Have you made made any hardware/software changes to your PC recently? If so, what? Have you moved your monitor or PC recently?

Get hold of a high quality DVI cable and try it with that.

Also double check your power profiles / options in XP and make sure XP isn't trying to power save your monitor.

The fact that you've tried with a Samsung that doesn't exhibit the same problem makes me suspect that your Viewsonic's on its way to the knackers yard. The fact that it works only for 3 minutes suggests that some sort of component within the monitor has failed / partially failed and won't hold a signal when a current is passed through it or when it heats up.

if you leave it in bios does the picture stay on.

If you press F8 before gets into windows and you choose vga mode does it work?

if it doesnt then id look at driver / settings. Refresh rate too high?

don't work, just a blank screen.

well, i have one option to do now, is calling the warrenty department.

many thanks to all of you.

A relative of mine had exactly the same symptoms. We tried everything to no avail. Then we found out what it was...

...he'd recently moved his PC and when putting the kit back together again he'd swapped the printer and TFT power supplies around. The PSU plugged into the TFT was the wrong voltage/wattage/ampage (presumably too low) and after 2 or 3 secs the TFT switched off.

Could your TFT power supply be faulty? Can you try another (identical spec) one?

hades, thanks.

But I already called them up today. I love viewsSonic customer support. they are very nice people to talk with.

everything went smooth, the operator told me they are going to deliver to my address new model within 1-2 working days, and take the old one. ;)

very happy.

cheers.
