Please help me build a budget AMD PC.

The TV i think was worth the price. £579 for:
2x 2.1 HDMI supporting 4k @120hz
Freesync premium
HDR 10,HDR10+,HLG
Dolby vision and Dolby atmos
3 sided Ambilight which is honestly awesome. I was watching The Terminator the other night and when it's looking through the terminators red eyes, the whole wall lights up blood red. It really adds to the atmosphere of watching movies. Off topic yes,but when has that stopped anyone on here!

Just a quick update. The mobo arrived today, however the outer box was damaged and i feared the worst. Those fears turned out well founded as the mobo box was crushed in certain places. The I/O panel was crushed in certain parts and the dimm slots clips had been ruined. So it's going back for a refund. So i've decided to get a better board. Can anyone recommend me a board for about £110? Theres some nice looking B550 boards i'm looking at but i'm just not sure what to plump for. Cheers.

Within your price range, I can see quite a few:
B550 Aorus Elite V2, B550 Gaming X V2 (Gigabyte)
B550 Gaming Plus, B550 Tomahawk, B550-A Pro (MSI)

My memory of B550 is a bit fuzzy (and the new/super condensed prices don't help), but I believe their hierarchy (in terms of specs) is something like:
1. Aorus Elite V2
2. Tomahawk
3. Gaming Plus
4. B550-A Pro
5. Gaming X V2 (I think this is the only board that launched at the current price)

The Tomahawk was very popular.

Thanks i'll take a look at those. It just gets tiresome checking the specs of mobos one after the other. Can i link to the rainforest or is that against the rules? Anyway the V2 is £105 atm,i'll check out the rest in a min.

Quick question. Why do these mobos have HDMI connecters on them? There's no IGP so it is just there if you need to update the bios or something?

Yeah that was a pretty stupid question now i think about it lol. See my new TV does 4k@120hz so should i go for a board that has a port like that,or is my budget far too low? Sorry for all the questions, but knowledge is passed around and if you dont ask,then.............. you need to do it yourself or something lol.

The motherboard's outputs are useless if you have a Ryzen 5 5500.

What outputs does your GT 1030 have? I think 4K/120 is technically doable with HDMI 2.0b, but not supported. DP 1.3 can do it.

1 DVI and 1 HDMI. I mean i have my TV set as monitor in the TV settings and it's doing 120hz np,so i guess it's a moot point tbh. In GPU-Z it reports is supports YCbCr 444/422/420. RGB444 some BT stuff, and up to 12-bit. I guess the GT1030 is running like a champ atm. Anyway i'll take a look ata few mobos, tell you the prices, and if you dont mind telling me which one to go for i'd be very grateful.

What about this?

ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a nice mobo before i go to bed. My kids are coming over on Sunday and i want all the parts here so i can build it with them. Might spark them to get into I.T,computer building etc. 2 boys 1 girl, for anyone wondering.

ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS

The prime boards tend to come bottom of HUB's thermal testing, so I'd be reluctant to buy one (which is also why I didn't mention Asus in my earlier post), though I guess with a Ryzen 5 5500 it doesn't really matter.

The Tomahawk is what I'd buy for the money.

MSI MAG Tomahawk says DDR5 Boost? Is that a mistake? I think it is. Anyway it's £120 on the rainforest. Pull the trigger?

B550 Tomahawk definitely does not support DDR5.

It's the best spec for the money, in my opinion, that or the Aorus Elite.

I just ordered this:

MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK Motherboard ATX - Supports AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen Processors, AM4, DDR5 Boost (4866MHz/OC), 1 x PCIe 4.0 x16, 1 x PCIe 3.0 x16, 2 x M.2, HDMI, 2.5G LAN

Good choice? Hopefully this one gets to me intact.

If you copy/paste it into the rainforest you'll see the exact board i think.

In theory.

We'll see ;)
You're killing me dude!

But seriously thank you so much for your help. I honestly needed a bit of guidance. I've had a rough life, and i'm poor. So spending £320 on a PC is a big deal to me. Thank you again. I'd send you a kiss emoji but even no homo would'nt cover it :p

I'll update if i actually get a working mobo.

Another question. The case i have came with 2 or maybe 3 blue led fans. So the Tomahawk mobo has aRGB,can i plug them into that and i can change the colours,or is it a bad idea? Can't beleive i used to be quite knowledgable about this stuff, but i've been out the game for a decade or more.
