Hello Everyone,
I don`t know if anyone is going to be able to specifically help with this query or offer any advice however here goes.
I am a die hard Samsung Galaxy fan, especially after having a very early iPhone which I in the end, utterly hated that iPhone. I couldn`t wait to get rid of it. :D
(This will have been well over 10 years ago, possibly 12, just to give anyone an idea of when I had my last iPhone)

However, I am due a new phone, and I have been looking into the S22 Ultra and the Pro Max I like both phones, and the camera on the iPhone does seem better than Samsung, however Samsungs screen is a bit bigger.

Now, normally I would be hands down order the S22, However, my reason for looking at the iPhone at all is currently I am completely and totally profoundly deaf and so I shortly will be having bilateral cochlear implants.
The cochlear implant was designed and they worked very closely with Apple to quite a deep level when making the cochlear (Its literally the brand name as well as what its called, so sorry for confusion). So basically, from what we have seen from other cochlear implant users is that their cochlear works great with the iPhone, the app used by the cochlear looks very similar on both android and Apple so for that I can`t see the problem.
So just really wanting thoughts if you would be swayed by the fact Apple had imput in the making of the implants so would you base that on your phone choice. Or if anyone has any thoughts on this or knows anyone with a cochlear who uses both a Samsung phone or iPhone?

I hope all that makes sense, please feel free to ask for clarification.
Thank you

You can get the S22 Ultra because it is bugger with more available apps as well as it is a newly launched phone. iPhone 13 Pro max is a great phone but it is kinda old now, so go for S22 Ultra. Also, you're a Samsung Fan!

I've always had Samsung Androids too, but apps designed for iPhone first and Android second are usually better maintained for iPhone over the long term, so given the importance of the implant I'd want the best experience possible.

MrsS has the Galaxy Note 10+ currently, and previous 2-3 phones have been galaxy Notes or S too (also a Galaxy tablet, but I can't remember which one), so gets on pretty well with them.

That is about the most unhelpful reply, I have ever seen! Love it! :D :D

If you could read the question you would see why I am asking the question.....

Which phone do you have now op?
Galaxy note 10+ :)

I would imagine that the cochlear implants work as bluetooth headsets with any app "just" for setup/tweaking sound quality. Once that is done you probably wont use the app again.

I'd get the samsung :)

(I have an unhealthy dislike for Apple products ;) )

Nope, This isn`t quite the case, the app can customise the processor for different sound situations, and can even do "bubbles". It can do many different things, including switching between different things so TV/Phone/Radio.

Also it is worth noting, the app does not "set up the implant" That is done by an audiologist.

:) :)

I meant "setup" as in different use cases. My father has conventional hearing aids that can connect to various devices under control from an app .

The iPhone does have a section/support for MFI hearing devices; if this implant falls under that then you’d probably have better integration with the iPhone. You’ll also have better software support on the iPhone.

If it is like for like and just down to the app, go with either one.

Based on what? Do you have experience with a cochlear? The Nucleus app? :)
Primarily a few hard of hearing work users I have setup iPhones for in the past, they seem to prefer iPhone than their previous Android devices :) Not sure on the specifics I'm afraid, but related to ease of use!

I really wish people would read the op. :D
That is the question, also i will be wearing a cochlear implant which is totally different way of working than a hearing aid.
I did read it. You said it works better with the iPhone no? My personal opinion is that I would choose the phone that works best with the implant.

He mentioned that Apple assisted in developing the tech, but you’d need to check the product tech details to find out whether it’s using hardware that works better with an iPhone, similar to how the AirPods have the H1 chip.

Apps should be fairly similar, but how that gets integrated into the phone is a different story. One might have better accessibility features than the other.

No, i said other CI users all use the Iphone and say it works great. I am asking for opinions on both. And I must stress once again, I do not have a CI yet, I also must state again its very different to a hearing aid.
I think if you dont have an experience of a cochlear and using the app/phones then i`m not really interested in peoples opinions im after peoples experiences. :)

Found a subreddit for Cochlear. Maybe dig around if you haven’t already. This thread has some thoughts https://www.reddit.com/r/Cochlearimplants/comments/npcfrq/cochlear_brand_vs_android_phone/

It looks like you want direct integration/streaming instead of the fallback Bluetooth connection. Seems like Apple Has better support for this. There is a comparability guide, which lists the Pixel and Samsung S models. I think the long and short is that Apple will offer the better experience, but you’re probably fine with the Samsung.

Oh wonderful! Thanks for finding that reddit thread! I`ll have a route. Thank you VERY much. :)
Thanks for cochlear link too. :) We had seen that one but thank you for taking the trouble to look. :)
