....is a great game of course and I love it to bits, but I honestly think DA:O is better overall. If that project of BG2 in the DA:O engine ever comes about though

I'm a long time RPG fan, my recommendations:
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2
Planescape: Torment
Dragon Age: Origins
Neverwinter Nights (2 is ok, but not as good)
The Witcher 2 (i've not played the first)
Those should keep you busy for a while!
