OK, bought some brand new components from OCUK.
First problem I had was that the cooler for the CPU arrived with one the blades snapped off. Not a huge problem, I spoke to OCUK who said they would sent me a replacement due to arrive today. Nothing has arrived yet and the tracking details are as follows, "we cannot find details of your parcel".
That's disturbing but it's the least of my worries.
I built the PC ready for when the new cooler arrives. No problems there, installed all the components properly. Made sure the motherboard was seated properly, that both the 24 pin and 4 pin connections were installed. I installed the cooler with one missing blade temporarily just to see if it turned on. I figured it might be a bit noisy but it will provide adequate cooling for the small period of time when I checked the BIOS.
So then I turned it on. The fans move for about 2 seconds and then there are four beeps and the computer turns off. What the hell? This to me suggests a dud motherboard. I've checked all connections, reseated the ram, tried it with only one stick of ram and the graphics card completely removed. Same thing every time.
I have been trained by the RAF to build and fix computers and have done so countless successful times in the past before anyone points the finger
So like I said, this is probably a duff motherboard right?
