Please help me get my 4400 to FX62 Speeds :-)

Hi all,

Eh.. first post hehe but read frequently.

I have my 4400 running at 2.62 (10.5 *250) Completely stable (Prime/Games/encoding you name it) Mobo is Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe which despite what everyone says here I think is a great board although am not using a crossfire set up (yet). Shame I couldnt get the 11multi to stick though, was a bit peeved about that system would hang at around 2.5.

Running a 166 div to get mem up to around 218 iirc Mem is overclocked nicely from default 200mhz (Corsair xms (2cas)) running at 2.5cas)

Had major trouble getting it stable at 2.7 though (ran on 133 div) managed to boot into windows and get cpuz up but system hung quick on prime. IIRC fed 1.6v thruogh it to try to push it to stable but no :(

Using the Zalman 9500 for cooling and Tsunami case. Well impressed though with the temps even in this hot weather currently at 34C idle but under load in this weather it hits 50C. not worried though as the 4400 is ok up to 65C. Under normal conditions (i.e. below 25C lol) tops out around 42C. Not too sure whether removing the IHS would get me a sufficient temp redecuction to make it worth while so am leaving it as it is.

Definetely a great chip. I upgraded from the 2500 barton that I had for yonks and well impressed with these X2 chips. Will see me in good stead for another two years :)

Also get 32/31secs on 1m PI depending on what mood my comp is in

5x I think - the mobo can handle up to 1500 iirc (although will need to check could be at 4x been awhile since i was in the bios hehe)

ok I raised vcore 1.40 + 200mv, and now 2.7ghz. Is vcore safe voltage? Currently loading both at 100% and 51 degrees. Ambiant is 23.

Slightly adjustment of vcore and seems to run ok. 53 load. Is this safe cpu temp?

Set memory from cas 2.5 to 2 (over 210 odd mhz and refuses to run at cas 2)

pi 1 million- 31 seconds (only one core use) although core 0 is around 10% also

Tenzen we have basically the same system :-)

yeah I tried that to get it higher but didnt work so put it back up to 5.

Gah and dont get me started overclocking again, I wont stop otehrwise LOL

Although in saying that I have found over the years that running at an overclocked limit for a while then pushing it further a few months on, seems to give a chance to get a little bit more out of the cpu...mmmmI want 2.7 now after seeing that pic are you wcling (eh nm just seen temps) Almopst have idnetical system to yorus squiffy.

Its called burning in. Are you running folding, if not you should be, see here

Interesting may try that - with a dual core system should you alternate the affinity say every week?

aLso if I do hit 11 multi on 250 I would be hitting 2.75ghz...dont thhink it would handle it (FSB)? In that case would likely have to lower mem divider further...would it be worth it performance wise?

how come every one is having to put 1.5v to get that clock. i use 1.45v and get over 2.7 is it because i have watercooling

as mentioned before, a 2.6ghz FX60 can do superpi in 28secs so that's the figure to aim for (or beat).

at clocks of 2.7ghz we are now seeing superpi at 31secs

Not sure, but I don't think it is to be honest. I have the ninja HSF with an akasa 120mm fan. The fan isn't spinning flat out and my temps look really good. I had to put my volts to 1.5 to get it to boot. I think it's the cpu itself rather than how hot it's getting.

ok final settings & testing, 3dmark runs without crashing. vcore fluctuates between 1.472-1.536 in CPU-Z. I think useful for the other bloke with same mobo and CPU..

Currently idling 38 degrees, 51 load both cores, 24 ambiant

Mines the "Deluxe" version, so will look different. btw I left all of the non cpu related over voltage to "auto" after a reboot it changed them automatically, so I presume it requires a higher voltage if overclocking CPU. I think when I set to "disable" all over voltage when overclocking it didn't post..guess try again, no point over volting if it's not required. Do need increasing vcore on CPU though after 2.5ghz.
