I've checked all the options, weighed up all the pros and cons. Watched hours of youtube trying to decide.

I've actually got a PSVR sitting on the shelf that I haven't opened as I don't actually have a PS4 at the moment, so will probably flog that or send it back.

I have the space (just) to use room scale and my rig should be able to handle most VR on decent settings. The budget is stretched but I can afford to invest in either the Vive or Rift just about. I will probably mainly game at the desk, but will be happy to do some standing / room scale stuff. I mainly want to pick the right platform for the future, I'm hoping to get at least a couple of years out of this thing.

Please post your suggestion on this poll: http://www.strawpoll.me/11920880

How much space do you have exactly? You'll probably find it frustrating playing the vive if you've not got room to duck, sidestep, swing your arms about etc as it's all part of the immersive experience!

If you're going to be sat at your desk playing racing games save money and just get the rift.

Ordered vive. I've got about 2.5m x 2.5m in gaming room and slightly more in front room if I move furniture. Bought some brackets to screw in both rooms for easy moving. Htc vive seems the more complete experience and has more available on steam which is preferable to me.

Hoping ocuk are sending new stock with the 3in1 cable

Everything on steam you can play with the Oculus Rift, if you get the Touch controllers.

That shouldn't change your mind, Vive is a great bit of kit.

I was a "seated only" vr user until I discovered touch controllers. I would have been missing out on some great vr experiences.

I am now thinking of rearranging my vr play space as the limited area I have at the moment means I have to be really careful. Already knocked a bit of my wall edge out. touch controllers are surprisingly tough.

For roomscale (>1.5x1.5m) - Vive
For seated/standing - Rift

Reasoning: The Vive has superior tracking for larger volumes, and has a slightly larger FoV. The Rift is more comfortable and slightly clearer.

To be clear though, the Rift + Touch is good for room scale, but the Vive will always be superior in room scale due to the tracking systems.

The fact that Valve have left SteamVR open for more than just the Vive is one of the reasons I went for it, rather than support Oculus with their 'exclusives'. I know they have opened things up more now but their willingness to do it to begin with put me off.

Honestly PSVR is amazing and everyone who's tried mine thinks it's awesome, don't dismiss it as it will probably have the most support out of all of them. People are even getting the headset to work with steam :)

For me, it's all about the tracking. The headset and controllers can be slowly replaced or upgraded with improved models, but if the tracking foundation is poor, you're stuck with it unless they scrap it for something else which means replacing everything.
