Hello, long time reader here but never posted before. My graphics card just kicked it so looking to get a new system as my newest component is about 5 years old.

I don't want an insane build just better than my current setup - Intel 2.13Ghz Dual Core, Nvidia 8800GTS 640mb, 2GB RAM.

I have a Corsair HX620W PSU, so I should be fine re-using that I think? I need Motherboard, CPU, RAM, Graphics Card, HDD, DVD Drive and a case as mine is a no-brand thing with no fans at all. Let me know if I've forgotten anything as it's been years since I built a PC!

Monitor is 1920x1080 if it matters.

Will be used for gaming 90% the rest browsing, youtube etc.

Budget is £450, don't really want to go over £500 but will go up to it if it will make a good difference. Thanks.

Edit - Forgot to say I'd also like Windows 7 as I'm still on XP.

The GTX 460 you linked to is a cut down 192bit version.

The 7770 I linked is the overclocked version, slight less clocked than the "BESDD" version here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5541/amd-radeon-hd-7750-radeon-hd-7770-ghz-edition-review/14

The 7770 "BESDD" beats the standard 460gtx in most games, nevermind the 192bit version.

Also he does not need a z77 board  or better memory for an i3 2120?

Happy with all this, thank you very much. Would I benefit at all by getting a slightly better Motherboard and some 1600Mhz RAM? I don't really know what difference this would make, but I don't mind going up to £500 if it makes a difference. Also the case isn't really clear how many fans it has in it?

Basically if you rounded the cost up to £500 what would you change? Better graphics card maybe or MB/RAM?

Thanks

I would get a different mobo to futureproof it incase u decide to move up to an i5 2500k or something. Probably 1600Mhz RAM @ 8GB too

Wouldn't the motherboard that horrorwood linked support an i5? They're socket 1155 aren't they?

Yes, it supports all socket 1155 CPU's, all the way up to the i7 3770! I am assuming you are not overclocking?

If not then the low end board I linked is fine and will give you the same performance with an i3 2120 or an i7 3770 as any other board.

I highly doubt 1600mhz ram will give you a performance increase on an i3 2120, it gives around 1 or 2% on a high end setup. However it is only £10 more if you want to go for it.

The only limiting thing with that board is that it only has 2 ram slots and you'll only have one PCI-e slot left if you want to add a soundcard/wireless. I do not think this is a problem though, 16gb is not needed for gaming. and you can get a USB wireless adapter if needed also.
