My max speed is 2.3 mbps, with torrents. On speedtests it's usually 2mb and below. I have connected my router to the master socket.

ISP: Orange
Router: Netgear DGN1000
Firmware: V2.1.00.39_RG
ADSL Firmware: 3.4.4.0.0.1
DownStream: 2264 Kbps
UpStream: 944 Kbps
VPI: 0
VCI: 38

Speedtest.net:

BT Speedtester:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.94 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 800 Kbps-2 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 873Kbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 832 Kbps

ADSL Link------------Downstream---Upstream
Line Attenuation-----59.1 dB---------33.6 dB
Noise Margin --------11.1 dB---------4.3 dB

DSL Mode: Auto (Multimode)
Multiplexing: VC-BASED

Any help? :(

If that's your speed at the test socket then you don't have much chance of getting any more :( . I'm guessing you're a long way from the exchange?

It says I am approximately 2.14km from the exchange. I thought because of this thread I could somehow increase it?

In that thread both the upstream and downstream noise margins were higher than they needed to be. Your upstream noise margin is already very low (lower than you'd normally expect).

You say you're connected to the master socket. Are using the test port that's hidden behind the front panel (assuming you have a NTE5 master socket)?

Ah right :(

Yes I took the pannel off and using the test port. I just changed DSL mode to : ASDL2 and I got:

Which is the fastest upload I've ever had. Unfortunatelly ASDL2+ setting doesn't do anything.

If the BT speedtester only says you can get upto 2mb then you'll only manage that. I know what it feels like. I only get about 2.5mb.

Sucks :(

I just changed teh DSL mode to ADSL and it's slightly better again. Ping is lower etc.

Lowered MTU a little and now I get

your download noise margin is at 12db, if this gets reset to 6db you would see a boost to around maybe 3meg-4meg, usually though if its this high its for a reason, usually to do with instability on the line.

If download speed is more important to you than upload speed you might see better speeds connecting with ADSL rather than ADSL2 or 2+. ADSL is better with long lines than ADSL2/2+. The last speed test is not old ADSL though as the upload is too high, that would normally be 400 odd.

At the moment it looks like there is a 2Mbit profile on your line. If this was removed and you were put on ADSL you might see 3Mbit or 4mbit at 6 or 7dB SNR.
