Please help me upgrade my audio solution

Right. I looked for Studio Monitors within your budget because they give you a good flat response which gives clarity across the whole frequency spectrum but for £100 I don't think it would be worth it as you need to spend around £200 for a decent set.

So looking at 2.1 set-ups I reckon these are your best bet (in this order):

1. Edifier S330D £97.95
2. Logitech Z523 £75.84
3. Corsair SP2200 £56.99

All on that well known auction site!

I found mixed reviews on the Logitech and Corsair but only good things about Edifier. Logitech tends to be boomy and tend to favour electronic music like Dubstep, Techno etc. I think you would regret not streching for the Edifier.

Although I suggest these speakers I have to say I have no experience of using them myself. Even though manufactures give you specifications you can't tell what they will sound like. If you have the time I suggest you pop to your local music/electronic store to listen to a few. Otherwise I think the Edifier would be a very good choice........but if they are **** then I take no responsibility lol

Edit: Just so these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-000-AE&groupid=702&catid=22&subcat=1920

Everyone seems to rate them but the frequency response isn't that great and the satellites seem small which would suggest slight tinniness!!!!

Those Edifiers do look pretty nice, and i'd say their spec are pretty good but i really have no idea :D Thanks for looking, will have a more thorough study of them later and then prob add them to my 'to buy' list. Thanks again.

I just came across the GigaWorks T3 from creative and they seems to be quite similar to the Edifiers, although more expensive. You wouldn't happen to have had experience with these?

I didn't suggest them because I thought they would be too expensive!! If you can afford them they would definitely be the first choice.

I have no experience with them sorry, I tend to go for studio quality stuff because audio is my thing!!

Yeah!

I would suggest the T3's if you can. Failing that the Edifier come in a close second (on spec alone).

Didn't plan to re-live this thread But i just saw a review of the corsair SP2500 and have become hugely tempted, is there anything better for the money?

Haha! Always a good thing!!

Yeah, they are a safe bet, they have separate drivers for mids and treble which is always a good thing and should give you the clarity your after. They also have a very good range, 35Hz will be hard to beat.

I have a few questions for the sound gurus out there.

1) If im listing to mp3 music through itunes would it be massively overkill to go for the pc350 and xense combo from ocuk?

2) I currently have only mp3's in my itunes, is there any way to 'exchange' or upgrade my mp3 quality music to something that sounds clearer and better? Buying the CD and re ripping?

3) The xense and pc350 combo is looking very tempting to me at the moment, is there anything bad about this set that should put me off? other than the high price?

covert your cd's to flac and play in foobar. buy an asus essence st and all will be better
