Hi all

Please help to review my new build PC, it's pure gaming machine.

Ryzen 7 2700X
Aorus GA-AX370-GAMING K7 AMD X370 (AM4) DDR4 ATX-MOTHERBOARD
TeamGroup VULCAN T-FORCE 16GB (2X8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C16 3000MHZ x2
AORUS GTX 1080TI (11264MB GDDR5)

Already have 850W PSU (if needed more PWR?), 480GB SSD, and 1440p 120FPS G-SYNC screen.

Is this build too much? I read on recearch Ryzen 7 not a very good pair with 3200MHz+ DDR4 RAM.

Hi

Go with the R7 2700 as it is cheaper. You can still overlock it.

You are fine with 16GB Ram for gaming. Looks like you have 16GB x 2 (32GB) there ?

An X470 chipset would be better as the X370 might not work without a bios update. Something like the Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming if you want a mid range option. The Gigabyte X470 Gaming 7 is the top end but costs more money.

Please do explain a bit more on X370 might not work without a bios update?

The X370 chipset supports the 1st gen Ryzen cpu's such as the R7 1700, R7 1700X and R7 1800X. To run an R7 2700 or R7 2700X you would need the Motherboard to have an up to date bios version (F20 or later).

If you can confirm with the retailer that the board is up to date (Should have a Ryzen 2xxx ready sticker on the box) then you will be ok. Otherwise you would have to get a boot kit from AMD.

Your other option is to go with an X470 chipset board.

X370 Aorus 5 - same VRM set up as 7 but £20 cheaper.

BIOS should be fine now as ryzen 2*** has been out a while and stock should have had bios to allow 2000 series to run. if not Gigabyte can flash the bios for you. believe you post it to them and they'll do it free of charge and post back .
jos of being UK and not EU based

if your after pure gaming and EVERY FPS min and top that you can get.

i7 9700k and Gigabyte/aorus z390 board . cheapest would roughly be

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £620.43 (includes shipping: £10.50)

that budget Z390 board is better then all but 3 X470 boards, 80% of z370 and 60% of z390 lol.

in terms of Phase design
