Gigabyte soc force

unfortunately i forgot to delete the Asus mobo software and i cant delete it either, because it's telling me that the files are being used by another programme, it's windows 8.1..... this is because it's the same SSD from my previous rig

pc isn't starting, it's only starting up if you press the start switch again, pc also isn't turning off, when you do so the motherboard stays on and the rear fan speeds right up, but the display turns off, you can only turn it all off via the PSU switch

the bios menu is very twitchy, i cant control the mouse very well, i'm getting a message ``bios is incompatible with your hardware or incorrect bios installed``

Gigabyte website warns me about updating bios/ flash etc and i cant find the bios for it anyway.

my Asus rig was ok yesterday, the only thing that's different tonight is that if i've got a Gigabyte instead as per my sig.

is the remaining Asus folder in C Drive causing the problems or is this due to the front panel header plugs?

you can try booting in safe mode, then delete the old asus software?

latest beta bios for that board is

GA-Z97X-SOC Force - F7d https://www.mediafire.com/?s10bye4om8a88au

extract it to usb stick and flash through qflash, your better off using keyboard to navigate in the bios, mouse is always laggy on gigabyte bios's

remember you also have dual bios switch on the motherboard, you can flick to backup bios and boot with that

hi thanks

i booted into safe mode and removed Asus, i installed latest drivers as per your instructions and it's still doing it

the pc is turning off except :- the rear case fan is still running but really fast, the psu fan is also running...........the front fans are stopping....the mobo looks like it's still on but it's hard to tell because its orange lights are still on......display is turning off normally

i havent installed graphics card yet.... cpu cooler fans aren't installed yet either

it looks like to me that it's still running because maybe it's trying to cool the pc before it switches off, i say this because the psu carries on running for quite some time after you turn it off, at least 5 minutes !

but this doesn't explain the pc not starting properly either

thanks, i wont see your reply till tomorrow night

i wouldn't run the pc with no cpu cooler fans attached,it will get hot very quckly

you flashed the board to the latest bios?

it's working fine now, i've turned it on and off 6 times, there is a orange OC ignition button, the lowest button on the mobo; it's always been on, so i just touched it wondering what it was and this cured it straight away....the light went out and it seems ok now, time for bed !
cheers

yes latest bios, plus asus is gone

Pebkac. That button is to keep peripherals on with the computer off for show rigs etc.

Having Asus software on the OS wouldn't effect it in the slightest, the latest bios is on gigs website as always.

ha ha, that makes sense, rig is ok now, all i have to do is get rid of all this pop up spam/ads, it's everywhere, win xp was alright but Win 8 lets everything through....Adblock doesn't stop any of it

hi

is it best to overclock via Easy tune 6 or by the Bios, i deffo dont want to loose the OC on the next start up, so my guess is it's best by Bios

Easy tune 6 on the desktop gave me 4.5 straight away, but ``Auto tune`` went up to 4.7, it stopped at this maybe because the fans haven't arrived for the Cooler yet, the Megahalems was pretty hot to touch

i wont attempt any more OC until i have the fans

bios is best, easytune has always been buggy and applies more voltage than whats needed, same goes for any software based overclocking

pc is not starting like it did, it's flashing straight into windows 8.1 at start up.

i want to see the Gigabyte bios start screen so i can get into the menu, it's all gone wrong since i downloaded the easy tune app, i've deleted it now, but it still has this quick boot start up

one of the fans on the cpu is failing to spin as well.

i might have hit EZ Rapid start in the bios menu last time i was there, or it could be the start up menu in windows taskbar

yea no difference, strangely enough the 2nd cpu fan isn't working either, this one is connected to CPU OP beside the other cpu 4 pin socket.

pc is starting instantly it's flashing straight into the sign in page.....sleep mode isn't working either, it's too sensative, it starts up again instantly

i wonder if it's AVG !!!

i almost succeeded in getting windows to slow down startup, it's flashing straight into the password screen, there's just a black screen before this.... it's something to do with power management.

i've already done cmos plus battery clear, i then reuploaded the latest Bios

the gigabyte bios menu screen is there if you use the onboard graphics with the card removed, but speeds up again as soon as you replace the GPU..

i'm suspicious of AVG Speed up tune because something else seems to be bypassing the gigabyte start screen, maybe it's AMD Catalyst

i can not overclock the pc without the bios screen....unless i revert to easy tune

it wont be anything windows related because its not loaded it yet,it has to be bios related and an issue with the gpu

try latest non beta bios see if that cures it

its not displaying the bios that's why your not seeing it with the gpu connected

thanks
which is non beta bios ?

the one you gave me above is already in use

has it been skipping bios since you flashed that bios?

latest non beta will be on gigabytes website

i think so yes.

i saw it earlier tonight because the gpu was removed/ onboard graphics only, this is because after CMOS the pc crashed i could not get it started again
