Please help with my network problem

For the first couple of months with my Amazon Fire TV I was having no problems and then over the last month it's been a nightmare and hopefully somebody might know what's going on.
I have a k: drive on my PC that has 3 main folders called TV, Films and Documentary so I drop files into these for later viewing.
About 3 out of 5 times I will access a film/TV show from my Fire TV and a network problem will occur.
When I go downstairs my k: drive will have been removed :eek:
I reboot my PC, go upstairs and it might behave itself but the following day it might remove the drive again.
I have no problems accessing my NAS or VU+ satellite box, only my PC.

I tried it with the WDTV Live I replaced it with and that causes no problems.
There was also an AFT update about a month ago but I can't say if it starting happening after that.

Any help appreciated
 
Sounds like a windows networking services issue, not sure which ones are required for network discovery but that would be my guess.
 
I have Microsoft Security Essentials on.

Why would trying to access the drive with my AFT would it then make the drive disappear from the PC?
 
I'm going to bed now but just looked at the Windows Event and in the System section there are many Error Logs from 23:18 when I last tried it and failed.
How do I get this info so that I can post it here?

I went up to OCUK this morning and Mr Seabiscuit sold me a Seagate 3TB drive.
I'm just transferring stuff at the moment but there are certain folders that have been giving me problems.

eg
I've had problems accessing my TV folder with the Fire TV and when transferring, the computer hung when copying that directory several times.
