Hi there
ive had this system for around 2 weeks now
Intel Core i5 2500K Overclocked to 4.70GHz
MSI P67A-GD65 Intel P67 (REV B3) Socket 1155
and have had 3 blue screens so far all with the same code ,
i have run prime 95 and mem test 86 both for a few hours and with no errors
i have changed the power settings in windows 7 to power (was on balanced) as i read somwhere it may help but has not ,
any tips or suggestions please please fire away as i am at a total loss as to how to start looking for the problem, some info below i have found on the system so far, thanks

Note your overclock settings and reset the cpu to default clock settings.

I have a feeling it's the overclock thats not stable. Did you do it yourself or was it supplied overclocked in a bundle?

'' What is it you're doing when you get a blue screen? ''
not gaming thats for sure, been playing for hours with no problems, its in windows that it crashes , video seems to kick it off

supplied overclocked in a bundle it is , was guessing that was the problem
anywhere else i can go in the system to get more info ??

i ran memtest for a few hours and prime 95 with no errors, how do i back up the settings on my bios on my msi motherboard above ? Or any thing else i can do before resetting the overclock to default settings?

Not sure of your particular bios. My asus board allows me to save overclocking profiles it's one of the last pages of options. May be easier for you to just snap a picture like you did of the bsod for all your bios pages.

You don't NEED to go back to default clockspeed you could just tweak the OC back a bit. Just thought going back to default would be easier for troubleshooting the problem.

It may well be you just need to tweak the vcore up slightly to make it stable. DO NOT do this until we can see your settings......don't want you to cook the cpu!!

Personally I would just make a note of your settings then reset the cmos to get back to default. If it is still bsod'ing it's a hardware or even driver problem. You could spend ages tweaking down the overclock before you realise that it isn't the problem.

*edit* just seen your pics! Under overclocking profiles can you not save your current setup? If we remove the overclock completely and it's stable then you might want to start a new thread in the overclocking section of the forum and get the overclocking experts there to help you. I don't have an i5 so i'm not as familiar with their tolerances as some of the guys there.

settings are same as above but have brought the

CPU CORE VOLTAGE DOWN TO 1.4
and the CPU RATIO TO 45

i think i accidently selected this morning 1.7 on the cpu core voltage (dhooooo) !! , thats why temps got to 79c , (not liking this mouse driven bios much , now using keys to select and change menus) , major opps

back down now so will see how the system holds up
any more tips ?

i am running the prime 95 stress test for around 1 hour now
the temps in 'core temp 0.99.8' app are :

core 0 69c
core 1 74c
core 2 73c
core 3 67c

are these normal temps ??

no errors at all yet

I would expect the temps to hit 70c under load. Seeing as prime95 is a stress test and you have overclocked the cpu. What are the temps at idle 35c ish?

Does lowering the overclock seem to have stabilised the system?

''What are the temps at idle 35c ish?''
temps at idle are 37c to 41c

''Does lowering the overclock seem to have stabilised the system? ''
when it was at 4.7 it was blue screenig around every 4 days with the STOP 124 error (while on the internet or just pottering around everytime) it has never crashed during gaming or prime 95 or memtest 86 or OCCT vs 3.1.0 , so will have to wait a few more days yet , fingers crossed, i set my core cpu voltage to 1.4 hope thats not too high ?
