Can anyone help?

I have about £250.00 to spend on a graphics card. I keep reading reviews but still cant make my mind up. I'm currently running a standard 6800

Yeah need a bit more info than that really. If you do have AGP then I would not suggest upgrading with another AGP card I would raise a tiny bit more cash and go for a PCI-E setup.

Any graphics card of £250 should be a good buy, providing you do actually get somethink thats worth that value. PCI-E is the way to go , and a ATI x1800XT or a Nvidia 7900GT should be fine.

Sorry, should have given more info.

My current setup is.

Athlon 64x2 4400+
Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI
GeForce 6800 PCI-E
2 Gig Ram

I never used to be bothered about the graphics card, it's only recently that I have got into gaming and was looking for that little bit extra.

Yeah definitely go for either the 1800xt 512mb or 7900gt for your budget, but if you can stretch that bit futher - a 1900xt :D (my dream card)

Welcome to the forums. :)

As said above if you can stretch to another £50, you could get the Sapphire x1900 XT, which is a cracking card, but its uses more power, and gives out more heat, but if that not a prob, and you can stretch then go for it.

If you can't stretch, and the power, heat is not an issue, then go for the x1800 XT, its faster than the 7900, and its cheaper, but as said like the x1900 it uses more power, and gives out more heat, so if that will be a prob then go for the 7900 as its still a cracking card. :)
