i have 1gig of 2x512mb ram should i buy another of this or scrap it and get 2x1gb :confused:

ok sounds good but how do you swap ram? do you have to change bios settings?

Probably not, it might depend on the motherboard and/or what you are trying to do but generally you can just let the system sort it out providing you are replacing like for like e.g. PC3200 for PC3200 or whatever.

Wouldnt the FSB for the memory be a good indication?..... should say on post or at least somewhere within the bios.

its ok i found it and its ddr2-sdram pc2 4300 @266mhz 54412. i want to swap it with 5 do i have to mess around with the bios? Also why is it 4300 @ 266 not 4200 @ 533mhz?

Because it's DDR2 so 2 * 266 = approx 533

thanks also is there a difference between 4200 and 4300? mine is 4300 but they sell 4200 on overclockers?
