PLEASE HELP!

NOTE*

It's almost certainly a hardware error - I tried both an extra hdd and dvd drive - got the same errors. This is really getting me down now. Spent a lot of money on something that isn't working - never had this sort of problem before. I just hope that OCUK can help get this sorted out. Are OCUK good for helping? Never had to ask them before...

Ran memtest and something went a bit funny on that, but when I checked it had something like 14,000+ errors - I'm guessing that ain't good (if anyone has used memtest before - I haven't).

Am ordering some new ram now - will send this stuff back during the week for testing.

Will have to do that tomorrow - am too tired right now and have to be up very early for work.

But before I goto bed I'll try to find a webpage with that info on that you just mentioned...unless you know of it already ;)

EDIT*

Think this is the right webpage - see what you think.

When you say check the voltage/timing settings should I use the info on the page for this memory as the settings I should put into my bios area?

Have received (and posted back the previous memory for testing) the new Black Dragon memory by Geil today and I could use a little help with setting it up in bios, folks - I hope someone can help me.

I've been told by the OCUK tech guys to use one stick in slot 3 for now, set it up in bios and then put in the other one (I guess when I know it's working). There's a sticker on the side of the memory saying the following:

DDR2-1066 CL=5-5-5-15 / Voltage: 2.4v

I can see in the bios an area called "Extreme Tweaker", so I'm hoping that's the right area to input the settings I need. But do I need to change any main menu settings in there before I can change the memory settings (some selections are greyed out) , and if not which bit do I need to select to change?

Here's what I see in that screen:

Extreme Tweaker
-----------------
AI tuning Auto
X Overclock Options Disabled
X N.O.S. Option Disabled
X System Clocks Disabled
X FSB & Memory Config Disabled

> Overclocking
> Over Voltage
SLI Broadcast Aperture Disabled
Nvidia GPU Ex Disabled
Linkboost Enabled
X SLI-Ready Memory Not Detected

If I enable the AI Tuning option I can access the FSB & Memory area - I'm guessing this is the area I would need. Inside that selection - when I go to it - I see the following:

Memory Timing
---------------
tCL (CAS Latency) Auto
tRCD Auto
tRP Auto
tRAS Auto
Command Per Clock (CMD) Auto

Advanced Memory Settings
--------------------------
tRRD Auto
tRC Auto
tWR Auto
tWTR Auto
tREF Auto
tRD Auto
tRFC Auto
Async Latency Auto

Can somebody PLEASE tell me what area I need to be in and what actually things/selections I need to change so I can the readings listed on the memory sticker? I'm hoping someone can do this tonight as I'm pretty wired and ready to get this done - PLEASE HELP!

its the ones under memory timings that you need to set to the 5 5 5 15 how eve ryou have 5 things there im not an expert on this my mem seetings only have 4 on my board. also you will need to change voltage but again im not familiar with *** bios of that board. hopefully someone on here will know :)

Does the motherboard have a RAID controller and/or does it need drivers for the SATA ports?

You may need to load these from a floppy disk by pressing F6 early on in the XP install process.

Is the DVD drive SATA or PATA?

I think it does have a raid controller - it did show something on one boot attempt but I've not seen it again. As for the dvd drive it looks like it's an old ide connecter (just checked the mobo manual - it's connected to the PRI_IDE connector).
