Please help!

Tried to instal XP on mates laptop but after it gets to stage to press F8 i think it comes up no hard drive iknstalled.

Tried with a sata drive that i use myself which i know works but still same message!!

Win 7 installs ok!!!

Tried to format HD in my PC but still the same message,

Any ideas guys?

The xp installer probably doesn't have a driver for the motgerboard's sata controller. Obtain one or just use win7.

How old and what make and model is the laptop?

Need sata drivers. I take it it's not SP3.

Win 7 works fine. It is s HP nc4400 Laptop
