here and there....
No sound!!

I took my PC in to the local shop to get it wiped clean.

Got it back and i have no sound, ive tried everything in settings i.e mute, volume etc etc

i rang the guys at the shop, he said oh right yes just bring it back i know what ti do!

but its miles away and the pc weighs a tonne

what else can it be, a driver of some sort? all the connectors are in place:confused:

Can't you just ring the guy at the shop again and ask him? He already told you he knows what to do, so just explain that it's too far to travel if its something you can do yourself.

theres a few people work there, and we found them quite arrogant, plus they messed us about.

it must be something quite simple, surly

Oh theres no sound card, i use it only for browsing, its just IBM Netvista, with intel pentium 4, there is literally nothing on it, it was fine before it was wiped, i need sound - i would ring them but i think i left it too long, i picked it up 4 weeks ago.

what could it be? the volume is on full, and why would the arrogant guy at the shop say "oh i know what it is, just fetch it back"??

Try and troubleshoot it yourself with the help of the good & knowlegeable peolple on this forum. Avoid computer shops especially when they are miles away from you and save yourself some money. Go to the vendor site and download recent sound drivers or google your drivers for your Netvista model and install.

There have been many IBM products that bear the name NetVista. Is there 4 numbers that go with the name?

Its probably just the sound driver which will be downloadable from the IBM/Lenovo website.

Agreed with others, even if it's mobo sound you may need to install a sound driver. Encountered it myself not too long ago, used Everest to find out mobo name and onboard sound device name, rest was a simple case of googling for a driver.
