im upgrading a "world" pc so not really sure

it is an ipowerX3.0 pakard bell

the Corsair HX750w has an 8pin

so yer my bad... :(

is thereno adapter i can buy or am i stuffed now

If is a new corsair 750W it should have a CPU 4+4 connector which is an 8 pin block which can make 2 number 4 pin blocks by splitting it.

andy.

Hahahaha :D

yer spot the new guy

err mods delete post ;-)

thank you for your wisdom i dunno how i did not spot this

lol

everyone makes mistakes, especially with your own builds as you are soo excited on getting it running you miss the obvious. many a time i have forgott to plug in a cable for something coz i was in such a rush to get it working. we live and learn.

Well Fuuu just noticed the gpu does not come with a hdmi cable

guess i better run down the shop now lol

Oh and it stil wont switch on properly

infact its not doing nothing at all now

not even a lazy fan whirl

95% sure its all wired corect now

Any other obvious mistakes you can think off guys ??

brb 20 mins

sorry if im missing something blindingly obvious, but was the system working correctly before the upgrades, or is this a complete new build?

Mate, you don't need a HDMI cable to connect to your monitor.
Use the DVI or VGA cable that you had before.
DVI has a white connector, VGA is blue.

was there no dvi-vga adaptor in the box, would be suprised if there wasnt.
so am i right in thinking system is as is, but with a new psu and gfx card?

no the XFX 6970 came with nothing but the gpu and driver disk - bridge

just got back with dvi - vga adapter

im going totake it all out again start fresh

then if nothing is better

/cry

Take everything out of the case and build it on a desk. Connect the old PSU (assuming you have it still and its working) and try booting with your old graphics card/onboard gpu.

If it all works then connect up the new PSU first (and not the 6970).

Maybe post up a decent quality picture so we can check wiring etc.

Most common fail is wiring up the front panel connectors as they can be quite tricky (if you've messed around with these).

Also ensure the CPU HSF is connected, some mobo have a fail safe/protection mechanism to stop booting if the CPU_Fan header is not connected.

Make sure the switch on the PSU is flicked to 230V &...finally check its switched on at the mains.

I have been here for a while now wires every where stressing
swearing been to the shop twice now for diffrent "bits"
taxi fare got drenched in rain and still no luck...

I come home from getting the dvi to vga adapter take everything out
check it all over w/e

suddenly i notice i had the old psu cable pluged in to the corsair
that cable was not pluged into a mains socket .

i expect lols a load

needless to say put it all back together now and its working a charm

Thank you and ave a good evening!
