Hi guys. I have a friends laptop here and he asked me to change his hard drive to a newer one. Before it had an 80gb 5400rpm Toshiba drive in and was working fine. I ordered a New Seagate 250gb 7200rpm drive I have just put it into the laptop. Now the problem I have is the laptop isn't recognising the hard drive at all. The laptop is a Dell model PP29L.
I ran the diagnose on the dell and it came back with error code 0141 which I googled and doesn't tell me anything I don't know. Anyone any ideas please?

Ok so I tried reseating it back into the laptop without any luck. So just to confirm I wasn't going mad I put the older one back in to make sure it worked and it did. So I have just booted up on my pc with it plugged in and its been recognised no problems. Could it be a compatability problem? or is it a Dell setting or something?

Ok I have sorted it thank god. The problem was the seating of the hd like you first said mate. The hd I have received is a thinner one so to get it to sit in the correct position was a little harder than normal. Thanks a lot. Sorry for treble posting, I shouldn't have done that.
