please recommend a data retrieval tool

can someone please recommend a data recovery tool for an external hdd - i have accidentally deleted the data of the disc and done a quick format. not sure if a recovery can be performed as a result of the format however, i am willing to pay for software.

I had to recover data from a 2TB drive a few months ago, I tried many different programs and the one that I found most effective was EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard.
You can get a free download here
It's very user friendly and I would highly recommend it!

This, but make sure you have a spare drive or partition big enough to copy the restored files to.

I have that version and used it to recover about 2TB of data so you'll be fine!

i recovered a folder which is 33.1gb but when i open it up there are no files inside it? all the sub folders are empty?

Do you still have Easeus open, if so, in the list of files and folders recover, is there one that says RAW. The recovery software does`nt always extract the data in it`s original form, you have to piece some stuff together. So you will find music, photos, videos in different sub folders. Some you may be able to recover but not all.
I recently wiped a disc full of a variety of stuff, some I managed to retrieve and some not. But I some how retrieved some data from a year ago.
You just have to know how to sift through it. If your disc had partitions on it, then I would scan each partition indivdually, rather than doing the whole disc all at once.

hiya, basically last night had some bad news and when going to recover from easyUS i got a prompt saying had to buy the software to recover the files - so i goes online to do so but ended up buying a program called easydatarecovery - head was a bit all over the place. so ended up using this program
