PLEASE REMEMBER: YOU CANNOT TALK ABOUT COMPETITORS!

I would say that mentioning games retailers is a good thing, seeing as overclocking and performance hardware is your business, and PC gaming being a core reason why people buy the products from OcUK. I'd look at discussion around where to buy new games being beneficial to you, from the perspective of people upgrading rigs etc.

Just a thought. If it were me, I wouldn't want to stifle discussion and hype that leads to purchases of performance hardware. Especially not for the sake of the thin sliver of profit you might get from stocking a few titles at (most likely considering the numbers you'll probably stock/sell) uncompetitive prices.

This community knows all of the competitors anyway, making people use pseudonyms isn't going to change that. :)
I'm not one to moan about the rules because its free to be here, but well said; I completely agree.

OK, I do not mind talk about steam IF we do not sell the game (example : steam sell this game for this price) I dont mind talk about steam and games. We have a good community of gamers and Steam really is only games. Other threads have been about companies which also sell hardware which is a big no no. So continue, just be careful what you promote :)

Whoever voted 1 star is insane.

This is worth at least 7 stars!

So once OcUK sell a game we can no longer talk about it in a Steam thread for example? this will get messy.

If this is honestly the company line, then i'm out of here.

ffs how about a list of who we can't mention rather than a ridiculously vague statement?

And is this rule now permanent or is it going to change in a weeks time?

Also does this mean we now can't mention any steam sale that includes

bf3

rift

warcraft

call of duty?

Howe about the bonus items offered by other stores for those games (PWP Pack for bf3 for example) can we talk about those can we say "game is offering A darth vader skin in <insert star wars game> if you pre order with them or is that banned?

what about GOG, greenman gaming d2d impulse? and all the other dd sellers?

Is thread allowed any more?

Does it apply to the Sound section now, as well?

We used to talk openly about competitors when it comes to headphones/speakers and other audio equipment there. People keep it to minimum, only to mention where you can grab a bargain or find specific stuff.

Or is it moderated by different people and follows a different set of rules and principles than this Forum?

And the "promote" thing is just funny. Nobody dares to promote any competitors here as that means an instant permaban. Promoting and mentioning are two different things and you should be precise and careful when using this word.

Oh, and what about eBay? They stock EVERYTHING, are they the ultimate competitor now?

I or We?

What was wrong with the old method where the stores could be mentioned in the context of games, and not linked?
