Please review my generic and boring selection of components for my 1st gaming system.

Since i sold my 360 (too noisy, too often freezing, games too expensive and too many games too blockbuster oriented with too little depth) I started to play on my limited iMac intel. For some reason i have been enjoying some PC games more than i expected.
Now i want a proper gaming PC, i have been saving some money and tomorrow i will sell my beloved iMac. (hopefully i will get a mac book soon).
This is my first "serious computer". The other two i made in the past were nothing special and quite cheap.
I need some advice with the selection. If there is anything that wont fit well please let me know.

About the components:

The 8800GTX is just a placeholder, i am waiting for the new GTS or who knows maybe the Ati HD3870 if it is good/cheap enough (in a future i might want to crossfire it)

There is no CPU! I am waiting for the new intel Q9450 (maybe the E8500)
In the meantime i will be using a Pentium 4 3.0 that a friend gave me.

What are the first updates you would recommend me to do? Maybe more ram?
Will be the PSU alright? I would like to get a good one next year.

Thanks everyone.

Tomorrow I am selling the computer i am using to post this message so i guess i will follow you using my Wii xD (which btw is the best web-tv ever)

tbh, you need a better PSU. That one is a underpowered generic, so really wont hold itself that well with decent hardware..... go for a Corsair HX520 or HX620.

CPU heatsink i'd change that 9700 to a Ultra120-Extreme or a Tuniq Tower.

other than that, not too bad!

change the psu 2 a Corsair if you can, and also change your heatsink which is a bit pricey.
other then that its fine :)

If you're waiting for a Q9450 why not get the rest of it when that's available? Prices tend to drop continuously until the part is out of production so waiting is probably going to save you a bit.

Wow, i have just read the peoples reviews on the corsairs and they are happy.

I guess it is a very good idea not only because of the lack of real power but because i have bought this case and it does not make sense to use a probably noisy PSU on a silent case. (btw the case is as gorgeous as it looks on the photos ^^)

The problem with buying a good PSU is that i would like it to be powerful enough to feed two ati cards. I am really happy with the x1600 chip that is inside this mac, i am looking foward the new 3870 and if it is good enough i might want to go crossfire.

I am living in a shared house and i don't have as much private room as i would like. I can't afford to have two desktop computers in my bedroom so i am selling my iMac. January is the worst month to sell anything. So i decided to sell it now.

Tomorrow i will be computerless.

That should be no problem with either the HX520 or HX620...... people SLi 8800GTXs on the HX620!

If you really need power there is even a new 750W version out.
