Please see screenshots - GPU or Monitor fault?

Hi all

Twice now in the last fortnight I've come back to my PC to find my desktop distorted as per attached screens - quick reboot, and all is cured.

So - GPU or monitor at fault here?

Monitor is 3 YEAR old Samsung S27A750D, and GPU is 3 MONTH old MSI GTX 760.

Is it a 3d monitor?, it looks like its in 3d interlaced mode or something. Try looking at monitor settings.

It certainly is (not that I ever use that feature)! Hmmm, interesting - I see your thinking. INITIALLY I just wanna establish that it's not my almost new GPU

I am currently using an old Acer 20" screen whilst my main one is repaired and this one goes like that when its trying to auto adjust to the screen resolution.

It only happens when switching back from 'standby' mode, so sounds plausible that it's just a niggle. Again to confirm, only ever done it twice.

Today I totally uninstalled my nvidia drivers and once the uninstall was finished I got a screen exactly like that. The graphics mode was set to some really low resolution.

Could be driver related in your case too.

It happened twice to me, a reboot solved it (something like six month went by between the two times, so I didn't bother thinking about it).

I get the same thing happen a few times when coming out of standby mode with my Asus ROG swift & SLI 780ti's using windows 8.1..

Mine does the same its most likely a software/driver problem.

Normally i just turn the monitor off and on which always fixes it for me.

Did this happen with your old gpu?
