You need at least a new motherboard, CPU, and CPU cooler. I would also upgrade the RAM to 16 GB.

The GTX 1080 is old technology. Take a look at the RTX 2070S and 2080S instead. You might also look at the Ryzen 3600 and 3700 CPUs.

Cheers bro. I've see a
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Six Core 4.2GHz, MSI B450 TOMAHAWK Motherboard CPU Bundle with Kingston hyperX fury 2x 8gb 3200mhz ddr4 for £374. Do you think this is a good price? Also do you have any suggestions for cooling it. I'd rather fans than liquid if possible

The Ryzen CPU comes with a Wraith cooler which is entirely adequate if you don't overclock.

The nearest bundle deal I could find was this:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
  • 1 x AMD X470 Ryzen 3000 & DDR4 RAM Bundle = £428.96
    • Motherboard:Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming AMD X470 (Socket AM4) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
    • Processor:AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Six Core 4.2GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail
    • Memory:Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B32
Total: £439.46 (includes shipping: £10.50)

But this is more recommendable:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £389.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

3600 MHz is the recommended RAM speed for Ryzen; you can cut costs by getting cheaper and slower RAM. And you want the Max motherboard because it natively supports Ryzen 3xxx CPUs.

Do note that the AMD B550 motherboards are rumoured to be launching this year.

Cheers guys. So I'm definitely going to buy the basket that cost £389.47 on pay day. Then I'll get a rtx 2070 the one after. Theres quite a few different types of 2070 any good suggestions for performance to £ ratio?

I've got a freesync screen. Would it be worth getting 5700xt? Only because the 2070 doesnt seem to have a display port which I would need to hit the higher fps. Not sure what you think?
