Going to look at one tomorrow, P-reg turbo diesel, need to know what to look out for.

Cheers

listen for a knocking noise coming from the front when on bumpy roads and surfaces as the antiroll bar link rods can wear out very easily.

As usual with Pug cars - check for loose bits of interior trim, check all the electric gadgetry etc...

As long as the Oil has been changed every 6k miles like it should be, the engine should be fine.

make sure you start it from cold and look for lumpy starts, aparently this means the injector feul pump might be on the way out. this is costly to replace as its expensive to buy and it runs off the timing belt so expensive to fit. :(

lol balls i say. If the interior is shagged then fear not! its practically all clip on so is a peice of poo to fix! Listed for suspension knocking, along with of course engine knocking, check temp gauge for irregularities, make sure the turbo feels like it kicks in right, dont be afraid to have a bit ove overtaking practice to check for turbo rattle. If possible undo the oil sump plug for a split second and check it does not resemble Tar or any other dinosaur preservative!

as with all pugs, suspension does wear as its very hard on it. but is also very cheap to replace, Droplinks are circa £10 each and wishbones are about £20. engine mounts are also quite carp and wear but again cheap enough to fix but all good bargening points.and agree with the interior thing, dont worry about it too much its easy to replace parts and they are easily availible, just use it as another bargening tool if it is wrong.
Make sure there is no rust as they should be galvenized and this would indicate a accident repair. Check power steering for leaks (check the ram underneeth for visable fluid) this will cost you £100 for the part if its faulty. make sure the engine starts easily from cold or you could need new glowplugs and also make sure there is'nt too much smoke as could mean a faulty turbo.oops on wrong name Malachy here .................

Looked at the car, missus liked it, just had 12 months MOT done, had both front wishbones replaced :) Bloke has put a blaupunkt (sp?) cd HU in it. Paintwork needs a tidy up (couple of light keyings on some panels, nothing an afternoon couldn't sort out) test drive was fine, braked straight, no vibrations, no smoke, and it's got a Bosch fuel pump ;)

Five minutes of haggling and he knocked off £100, mine (well, hers) for a whole 500 quid :D

Need to SORN it for a couple of months until she's got her 1st year NCD (and passed her test) and it becomes cheaper to insure than her metro

Only an LX, it's got basic electrics, nice wheel trims, etc. Nothing to shiney, but it's a good sized car if she wants another sprog this year.

Been hinting that she wants reversing sensors fitted as she can't see over the boot :D

Oh god, this is upsetting, just had a few insurance quotes, damn thing is cheaper than my transit

Good deal, the turbo derv unit in these is very good if a little agricultural. Just make sure it's cooled well as the XUD engine really doesn't like overheating..
