Plex - can you tell it to launch, full screen on 2nd monitor?

Yeah just go into settings and set 'display' to the screen you want. If you close the program from the 2nd screen it will load back up on it.

ok kewl, second question: can I tell it to use my samba shares over the network or does it only use itunes?

It'll only use iTunes for music, the shares is fine

I'll try it, ordering my Mac mini on Weds night

I like Boxee on linux and they do a MAc build so may use that instead of Plex.

I tried both and preferred Plex personally, especially since Plex Nine came out. They're both free obviously so give both a punt and see what you think.

Yeh thats true, depends which one works best for me on MAC. I assume the apple remote works out of the box? Think I got one lying around here somewhere...

Certainly does. A bit of software like Mira or Remote Buddy will be handy as well, to let you do more with the remote (launch apps and whatnot)

So can these programs be used to set the remote to say press 2 buttons to launch plex on my second screen (proper TV)?

It's going to be a no go if I can't launch plex with the remote from my sofa.

I use Mira, and if I press my Menu button while no windows are active, I get a menu overlaid on the screen with the apps I've chosen to be in it. then I can just pick one and it'll launch.

I use Mira because I broke my remote sensor in my Mini, and bought a USB receiver, the software was only an extra few quid when bundled so I gave it a try, very glad I did.
