Fresh instal of the os and Plex Media Server on a Synology NAS. When trying to add library files it gets as far as the containing folder and the files are greyed out. I unable to change permissions to "system internal user" as it keeps reverting to "local user".

Ive been at this for 2 days. Any help gratefully received.

Mac mini, Synology 220+, I believe the problem is with the Mac OS as something is stoping the change to 'system internal user' in the keychain registry on the Mac. I'me unfamiliar with Mac OS, coming from Windows

So you’ve connected to Plex on your NAS. If so then the error message you’re receiving refers to an issue with your NAS set up. Can’t help you further as I’m not familiar with Synology set ups but it may help narrow down your problem. MacOS doesn’t come into it

I was going to get emby but saw that needed the local user changing to system internal user. The same problem I’m having now.

Let's get this worked out properly.

You have a NAS with drives that have your media (films and TV?) on them?

You have Plex Media Server installed on the NAS and it can't access the media on the NAS?

Not sure where MacOS comes into this... I'm genuinely confused.

Assuming you're adding library files from the NAS and not any other device? IIRC you just point the library at a drive path and it'll do the scanning and importing. So do you have anything imported into the library so far?

My files are on the NAS and synology can see them but can’t form a library as the files are grayed out. I need to set local user to system internal user but it keeps reverting to local user.

If you're not going to take the time explaining your setup in full, not filling in the gaps where you assume anyone knows them, and explain the exact issues you're having, no one is going to take the time to help.

I suspect the two posts above were made at the same time.

I've moved this to a sub-forum which might be more useful and changed the subject because the Mac bit was misleading.

This is a Synology/Plex thing.

Good luck :)

I’m sure you don’t mess with the mac side of things. I’m not at home at the moment, I’ll check if mine is still set up. I just used the web browser on my mac pro , logged in to my syn nas, installed plex, and looked for 2 files within the plex install and changed permissions.
