Plex thinks local wifi is streaming remotely?

I’m trying to set up Plex on my tablet. The Plex server is running on a Proxmox machine on my local network, and the tablet is on the local wifi. Same subnet, DNS etc.

The Plex app just asks for my account login details and then immediately shows my TV and Movies libraries.
If I then try to play something, I get “To stream remotely you need a Remote Watch Pass subscription…”

I had a similar thing on my PC, but I got around it by browsing to my Plex server’s IP address rather than Plex.com.
Also, it’s working on my old tablet which was set up with the old wizard that asked for the IP address of the Plex server.

I understand the remote play subscription thing, but how do I set it up to play on my local wifi??

In the app on your tablet if you go to Advanced and turn off the use relay, then log out, force close the app and re-open then it should detect the local server.

If this doesn't work, on your tablet if you go to http://yourplexsreverip:32400 this should take you to the local sign in page, once you're logged in try open in app in the top right, that should trigger the app to connect to the local path rather than the app trying to stream through plex relay

@iamgigglz I think for you to use the app on a tablet or phone you have to pay for the remote watch.

When I first setup Plex I had issues with it on a phone and tablet where it would only play for the first minute and then stop. (limit of the app not being unlocked)

On TVs, PCs, Laptops it was fine and would run off my local network.

Just had a quick look online and saw this. Seems like the app is free to download but has limitations

As above, you could try the web browser and see if you can watch that way but not something I have tried.
