I'm looking for a cheap tablet to run Plexamp only, not looking for anything fancy, just something that I can use as a interface, that I can mount at the side of the system and control my RaspberryPI from, if that makes sense. Amazon have the HD on offer, does anyone know if that would work.
Any help appreciated.

Hello, curious if you ended up buying a tablet or solving your query. I've recently got on the Plex bandwagon and will be making use of Plexamp in the near future.

If you have Plexamp on the tablet, is that not where the music would play from? Or would the tablet be hooked up to an amp / speakers?

Not bought anything as of yet, but basically the Plexamp app on the tablet/phone would connect to my Plex media server, hosting my music and stream to my Raspberry Pi, which is then connected to my DAC/headphone amp, if that makes sense  But if I'm out and about, I just use Plexamp on my phone, with my IEM's. I'm just wanting a tablet as it's a bit more permanent for home use and a larger screen, as my eyes ain't what they used to be, plus will make it a bit more comfortable with my over-ear headphones pads as I hopefully won't need my glasses to read the text

Ah yes ok I think I'm with you, didn't realise you could cast from Plexamp to a headless device.

Hmm well the Amazon tablets don't have access to the Google Play store last time I checked, so you'd need to figure out how to side load Plexamp if you bought one. So maybe a cheap Android tablet would be best - something like the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is £50 refurbished on eBay.

I have a couple of Kindle tablets with Google play services / store running on them. I have the regular plex app on their and it has no issues. I can Chromecast to speakers /displays around the house without issue (assuming that is how you will connect to the raspberry pie?). Installing playstore on there was very simple too.
