I have to restart computer every time and I am on bt

I have a bt voyager 2500

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. It looks like there is a problem with Vista and BT them. Have you spoken to BT about it? Did you install the BT software?

Hi,
Yes I agree with you about BT they are ****. Are you using BT home hub? Do you have a wired connection or a wireless connection? I'm using a wired connection.

Ug, had this at my house last year. Moral to the story = BT's routers are rubbish and were designed by monkeys.

Dump the BT router and get something more reliable, like Netgear. See if it makes a difference.

You need to first work out if the problem is your router losing connection to the BT network or if your wireless connection to the router is failing.

If you take a look at your wireless adapter IP Protocol settings and make a note of your "default gateway" - this is the address of the router.

Next time you lose connectivity run the ping command using the gateway address as a parameter. So if your gateway is on 192.168.1.1 you would go:

Start Menu, Run, ping 192.168.1.1 -t

If you get a ping response then your router and pc are talking ok - wireless is fine and likely your router has indeed lost its connection to the BT network.

If you get no response then your wireless is playing up.

Hope this helps.

When I look in Local area connection status general, connection, it say's IPV$ connectivity: internet

IPV6 connectivity limited any idea's what this mean?

When I Start Menu, Run, ping default gateway ip address

reply from ip address bytes=32 time ms TIL=255 about 50 times. Is this right?

Is it just happening today?

A few parts of the UK have been switched over to WBC connect today which results in some downtime and reconnections...

I now have almost 1Mbit upstream on BT Broadband :D

I’m with BT there homehub is crap mine use to drop the connection no matter what I tried. Got a Netgear DG834 no problems at all. By the way I have to pc's running Vista x64 no problems at all setting it up, and one on XP.
