I’m looking at getting a plug in hybrid Ford kuga.

it will be a family car and mainly used city driving with short trips however my partner has to commute 180 mile round trip once a week. What economy can I expect to see for this trip if setting off with a fully charged battery? Will it undo all of the economical driving around the city on electric?

We've got one..it's currently at 153mpg average over 7200 total miles with 5400 of those being electric.

Best I can say is use that as a ratio to calculate your own (above is 3:1 electric:petrol).

The problem with phevs is the up front cost of having two drivetrains so your 'savings' are already spent. The exception being if you're getting it as a company car and exploiting the silly BIK rates.

You'd use up your electric range first then it would act like a regular hybrid.

Seems to be around 45-50mpg when doing 70 with cruise control on.

We got it as it means the daily commute is covered by electric and living in the north east we have plenty of range for going on day/trips without the anxiety.
