These things are fantastic :D Such an easy way to know how much power your PC/s are actually using.

For example this laptop at idle draws 44 watts, now it's folding it's drawing 76 watts.

Can't wait to try it on my other PC's at home :D

Best edit that or your only end up with some sarcastic remarks like i did for simular non-text for text likeness. ;)

I got one of those the other day as i'd been meaning to for ages (but kept forgetting).

My PC (not including monitor) is at the moment using 157 watts.

Where do you get them from, and how much?

If I was to Froogle it, what would I need to search for, to find the cheapest one?

I got exactly the same model from an online auction. My 3.5Ghz P4 uses 130W idle, and around 220W when gaming. (Geforce 6800 ultra)

I typed "energy monitor" (with quotes) into Google - the first result, is exactly what the OP has.

I bought one at 12:10am. :o

Just google the title of the thread. Several sites come up straight away.

OcUK should get some of them in, a lot of people are wondering how much power their PC's / equipment are drawing :)

Geez, I can't mention the major UK electronics supplier...

(sounds a bit like the spiky object you stick in a large sheet of paper that has a topographical layout of a particular geographic region...)

...this place is so paranoid - just because they happen to sell other things...

Ive just bought myself one, and heres my results:

With pc turned off, psu uses 0.8 - 0.9watts
In windows my psu uses 199 -200watts
in windows using tv card, psu uses 234 -237watts
playing games psu uses 320 -335watts

So whats the best way to plug this thing in?.....

You guys literally just plugging the PC into that, and having the monitor plugged into your surgre protetors?....

Or are you plugging the monitor in at the wall and plugging the surge protector into the monitor?.......

£13 or so for one of those little beauties, might have to treat myself for the sake of seeing how each household PC compares as they are quite different specs.

Nifty little devices for £12.49 aren't they :D

And lmao @ TheVoice - Compass.

t31os. Well you can put a 10 socket gang in it and then measure exactly how much all those 10 appliances are drawing if you so chose.

Basically you can measure what you like. I'm going to measure the PC when "not on", when idle in Windows with Cool'n'Quiet enabled and then at load, and then with the screen as well.

But running more than 3250 watts of any single UK socket should trip your fuse box. (250volts * 13amps = 3250watts) :)
