Plumber rip off?

why are so many people justifying the plumber overcharging the OP?

Getting shafted by tradesman is should not be tolerated. I don't care if they have to travel, who doesn't?

If tradesman want security they should have paid attention at school and got some qualifications.

because plumber isnt a "trade" one has to learn is it.... FACEPALM.JPG
Friend of ours called a plumber out as her tap was leaking, £22 later and said it can't be fixed and walked away. Business must be good then. My dad went round last night, stripped the tap down and pointed out the bits that needed replacing, should only cost a couple of quid.
leaking taps are easy :P its the rubber washer needs replacing everytime.

one thing i do depise about some tradesmen is how your paying them for the time they spend in your house yet and insist on answering there mobile phones and most of the time its a personal call....

once has some cowboy come round starts doing a job , halfway through ring ring ring , he answers his phone and says he will be back in half an hour.

i could hardly believe it he rushed off to do another job when he was suposed to be fixing something in my house.

Don't forget if he is a self employed plumber, he has to cover all the costs of his business, transportation, tools, tax, insurance, membership to professional bodies etc... He will also have to budget for times when he has little work, as he will not have a steady stream of income like employed people.

As above, but also remember you are paying for his skill and knowledge. As one poster said previously, do it yourself if you can do better.

I think that is a fair amount to have been charged.
