If you call a plumber do they generally know how to winterize a house for being left empty over the winter? It's common in colder climates but do they know how to do it in the UK?
i.e.
Turn off water main
Bleed radiators and boiler
Drain toilet tanks and water pipes
Flush piping with anti-freeze.
Septic tank should be alright below the frost line right?
I've never seen the anti-freeze thing be done in the UK, is it possible to have it done? It's some sort of non-toxic anti-freeze that they fill the toilet tanks, u-bends, etc. with. I don't know if it would be safe for a septic system when it's flushed out later.
It's supposed to be another brutal winter this year.
