just got my fibre up and running today ( not actaully home yet)
but i was told by bt and plust net i should be getting 69Mb connection with 20 up

so i order the unlimited package and they advised me ican get these speeds when i did the order.

so it goes live

37Mb down plunet web site says estimated 40.

so i call up they say i have accidently been put on infiniaty 1 ( bt terms 40mb connction and not in inifiaty 2 80mb)
they say it can be sorted in 24 hours.

but wats bugging me is that if they say i can get 67, but only get 37 then why cant i get 40?

or are they 2 different technologies?
and will get the correct speeds tomorrow?
will they need to re patch me at the exchange?

You won't ever sync at the full 40/80. Same tech. No repatching needed, the switch will happen over night once it's done at their end.

You won't ever get the full profile speed anyhow - they quote the profile speeds but due to slight overheads (and upstream QoS on the VDSL modem which I believe doesn't let any one connection use more than 90% of the upstream bandwidth) you will never quite see it - 37MBit on a 40Mbit speed test is about as good as it gets likewise on 80Mbit profile you won't see more than around 76Mbit/s downstream and ~17Mbit upstream (~2Mbit QoS and ~1Mbit to overheads) tops. (You can use around 18-19Mbit upstream in total but you will need to either unlock the modem and disable QoS or have more than one application uploading).
